Village of Bankya is located in South-West Bulgaria. It is part of Trun Municipality, Pernik District.The Pernik municipality is situated in the hollow of the same name. It??™s favourable climate and its vast semi-mountain pastures have created suitable conditions for living, so it has been inhabited since ancient times. The results of archaeological findings made in the last few years show that in prehistoric times the Thracians inhabited the Pernik area. It borders? the Sofia, Breznik, Kovatchevtsi and Radomir municipalities. The area of Pernik municipality is about 477.21 square kilometres, which is about 20% of the area of the Pernik District. Nearly 25% of the municipality territory is forested.The percentage of territories where ores and minerals are mined is relatively high - 11.7%. Towns and villages occupy 9.6% of its territory. Pernik Municipality is situated in the hollow of the same name, which is distinguished by its well-developed foot, as well as with the predominant development of high terraces. The town of Pernik itself has a linearly developed structure. It is situated primarily in the lowlands along the Struma River. Public Medical Service in the town of Pernik dates from 1894, when a small dispensary and a pharmacy were opened.There are registered dispensaries for first aid and specialized medical care, medical centers, labs and pharmacies. The constructed healthcare system expands ver the territory of the entire municipality. In connection to the current Healthcare reform, 113 practices were established on the municipality's territory, including 60 GP's and 53 specialized practices, and 80 dentist's practices, 14 of which are specialized. There are 15 secondary schools on the territory of Pernik Municipality. Six of them are technical schools and nine are high schools, including one language school, one school of Math and Sciences, 6 schools of Arts and one school of Sports. In Pernik, there is a College of Economics affiliated to the Varna Free University ???Chernorizets Hrabar???.
