Pancharevo is favourably disposed just 10 minutes away from the centre of the Bulgarian capital – Sofia and only an hour driving from our famous ski resort – Borovets. The village of Pancharevo belongs to Stolichna municipality, Sofia region. Sofia and the Stolichna municipality are located in Sofiisko field, 550 m. above the sea level. The region is rich in mineral waters. Some of the big rivers passing through the region are Iskar, Vladaiska, Perlovska, Suhodolska, Slatinska, Boianska, Bistrishka, Bankianska. At the place of the one-time Neolithic settlement VIII century BC around the mineral springs was settled an ancient Thracian village, which later the Romans conquered and called ‘Serdika’, which means serdi’s town, named after the Thracian tribe that inhabited these lands. During Roman times (I – IV century) flourish as a centre of Vatreshna Trakia province. After the Bulgarian emancipation from Turkish slavery in 1879 the town was elected for country’s capital.
